Farewell to Kevin Lewis and Nick Rumney

GOC Chair Gareth Hadley paid tribute to Kevin Lewis and Nick Rumney in their final GOC Council meeting. Both optometrists’ terms as members end on 31 March.

Gareth Hadley said: “Both have made very significant contributions in their time as Council members and have given us their substantial experience of the profession. I want to place on record our thanks for their important contributions to our work regulating optometrists and dispensing opticians in the UK.”

The GOC will announce their replacements next week.

Other news

Council decided to review member and committee fees in the autumn when setting the 2014/15 budget. Council accepted Remuneration Committee’s decision not to increase member and committee fees for 2013/14.

Council approved a change to the operation of the GOC’s statutory advisory committees (Standards, Education, Registration and Companies). Council members, rather than staff, will now chair each of the four committees.
