Student retention underway

The General Optical Council (GOC) today issued retention forms to all registered students. Students must complete and return the form, together with the £20 retention fee by 15 July 2007.

Registration with the GOC is a legal requirement for all optometry and dispensing optics students. Anyone who misses this deadline may be removed from the student register on 1 September. Students who are not registered may be excluded from clinical training and examinations. The GOC may not recognise qualifications of applicants for full registration who were not registered for all or part of their training.

The GOC are urging students not to jeopardise their future careers for the sake of £20, but to return their completed form and payment as soon as possible. Anyone who pays now but does not continue with their course in September will receive a full refund.

Students who do not receive their form within the next few days should contact the registration team on 020 7580 3898 option, 1, or email superinfo@optical.org. Alternatively you can download a copy of the student retention form.
