Retention deadline now passed

18 Mar 2010

Back to news listing

The deadline for retention forms and payments has now passed. In total, 90.4 per cent of registrants successfully applied for retention by the 15 March deadline. The numbers applying by the deadline show little change from last year, when 91.5 per cent applied by this stage. Registrants who have not yet renewed their registration have until 31 March to complete and return their application form and fee, or risk removal from the registers.

For those who missed the 15 March deadline, the cost of retention for optometrists has increased to £345, and for dispensing opticians, £300. A £20 late application penalty is included in addition to the basic retention fee. If the £20 late application penalty is not included, the form and payment will be returned to the registrant.

Registrants who fail to apply for retention by 31 March will be removed from the Opticians Registers from 1 April.
