The NHS is launching a campaign to raise awareness of fraud within the health service. Fraud Awareness Month will run throughout October this year across England and Wales. The campaign aims to educate anyone who works in or uses the NHS about how damaging fraud can be and highlight simple steps that can be taken to stop it.

Since the first Fraud Awareness Month in 2003, the NHS Counter Fraud Service (CFS), with the support of Local Counter Fraud Specialists, has been working with healthcare bodies to hold a number of events designed to raise fraud awareness amongst NHS staff and the public.

For more information about the campaign, or if you are interested in running your own local event, a toolkit of electronic resources is available at www.cfsms.nhs.uk/fam08.
