GOC launches lay member recruitment

20 May 2011

Back to news listing

A campaign to recruit a lay member to the 12-member Council of the GOC (General Optical Council) has launched today. The Appointments Commission is managing the campaign on behalf of the regulator.

Anna Bradley, GOC Chair, said: “Our vision is to lead the way in professional health regulation. There are going to be some significant challenges in healthcare regulation over the next few years and the Council and staff are very focused on identifying and addressing these challenges proactively.

“We have made an important start strengthening the organisation and modernising some of our practices. We have been laying the foundations, but there is plenty more to do and we are looking to enhance our team for the next phase of work.”

The successful candidate will be someone who can bring experience of patient and public engagement, and articulate the needs of service users.

The closing date for applications is 16 June 2011 at 12 noon.

To apply, please visit the Appointments Commission website, vacancy ref DH0251.
