Consumer complaints tender postponed

The tender process for the appointment of a consumer complaints mediation service provider has been postponed. The decision was approved at today’s meeting of the General Optical Council. The Department of Health are about to begin a formal consultation on the introduction of a single complaints process across health and social care. The results of this consultation could impact on consumer complaints procedures. The Council will await further details of the project before awarding a three-year contract. In the interim, a 12-month contract extension has been agreed with the current providers, OCCS.
