Love Your Lenses week 2019: Highlights

Following on from this year’s successful Love Your Lenses week, we’d like to say thank you once again to all those who supported the week and give you a recap on some of the highlights.

This year’s Love Your Lenses week focused on the ‘Land The Message’ tools we created to help you better deliver contact lens aftercare advice to patients. The tools consisted of a visual aid, pre-appointment questionnaire and lifestyle-based questions.

The tools were designed to have longevity, so we encourage you to continue to use the tools in your everyday practice and adapt them as you see fit to ensure you are ‘landing the message’ with patients about good contact lens care.

We produced two videos to support the week, an animation video explaining the ‘Land The Message’ report and one explaining how you can use the tools to land the message with your patients, featuring Keith Tempany, contact lens optician and former BCLA President.

During the week, there were 425 downloads of the Land The Message tools and 284 downloads of the Love Your Lenses toolkit. To start using the tools in your practice, you can download them from the Love Your Lenses website.

111 people tuned into the webinar we held which discussed the behavioural science behind the tools and the importance of landing the message.  83 percent gave the webinar a 4-star rating for explaining ‘land the message’, and more than half intend to continue to use the tools in practice.

If you missed the webinar, you can download the audio file here.

Throughout the week various publications covered Love Your Lenses, including Vision Now, Dispensing Optics and Optometry Today magazines, and Sarah Morgan, an optometrist and comedian, spoke on BBC Radio Lancashire about the week and the importance of ‘landing the message’. There is also upcoming media coverage to come, with Love Your Lenses to be featured in an episode of BBC Two’s ‘Trust me I’m a Doctor’.

Overall, Love Your Lenses week was a great success and we thank everyone that supported the week by downloading the tools and/or promoting the week on social media. For more information about Love Your Lenses and Land The Message visit http://www.loveyourlenses.com/.
