Council member vacancies

We are seeking to appoint a new registrant member and a lay member to our Council.

The successful candidates will start their terms of office on 1 January 2015 and will be paid £12,000 per year for a time commitment of approximately two to three days per month

Optometrists and dispensing opticians are both eligible to apply for the vacancy of registrant member, replacing outgoing dispensing optician, James Russell. If you think you have the necessary expertise and desire to contribute to our work we would strongly encourage you to apply.

GOC Chair Gareth Hadley said, “Becoming a GOC Council member provides a unique chance to shape the future of optical regulation in the UK. We’re looking for registrant candidates with a breadth of experience in the optical sector who will help us in our work of ensuring public safety.

“This is a terrific opportunity and I urge anybody who wishes to get involved with our work to apply. This is a wonderful time to join us and shape our work, particularly our standards review project and our efforts to make our complaints process faster and more efficient. I look forward to working with the successful candidate.”

The closing date for applications is 29 September 2014.
