Welcome to eBulletin

Dear registrant

Welcome to the October 2016 edition of eBulletin.

So far 2016 has been a busy year for us research-wise and this issue covers two key pieces of research we have undertaken.

Our public perceptions research has once again shown a high level of satisfaction with our registrants and the services they provide. This is great news – but the research has also once again underscored that patients and the public, particularly in England, are not aware of everything that opticians do. The whole sector needs to work together at improving this.

Our contact lens research has also uncovered some less than ideal habits and attitudes in contact lens wearers, especially when it comes to allowing their lenses to mix with water. This is another area where we all need to work together to help educate patients.

More recently we conducted a survey of you, our registrants, and we are delighted to report that over 4,000 of you responded. So I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to respond. We’re currently going through all your responses at the moment and will report the findings in our next issue.

Best wishes

Samantha Peter
Chief Executive and Registrar
