One month to go until CET deadline

Registrants have a month left to meet our minimum annual requirement for CET points or they may put their registration at risk.

Most registrants must obtain and log in to accept six CET points by 31 December. We will review registrants’ CET activities once the deadline has passed, and registrants who have not met their minimum requirement may be unable to renew their registration in the New Year.

Once registrants have taken part in a CET event they must accept their points in teh MyGOC area of our website to record them.

The annual minimum requirement forms part of the enhanced CET scheme that we launched in January this year. As well as needing 36 points in total over the course of the three-year cycle, registrants must also obtain a minimum of six points each year. This is to encourage registrants to spread their learning across the whole of the cycle and still applies to registrants who obtain 36 points in one year.

Registrants who joined the register part way through the year may have a lower, pro-rated minimum points requirement for 2013.

To check how many points you need and to view how many points you have obtained to date, please log in to MyGOC.

Linda Ford, GOC Head of Education and Standards, said: “The end of the year is fast approaching, and although most registrants have already met the minimum requirement, some still have more to do. I would strongly encourage anyone who has not yet recorded their six points to do so as soon as possible to avoid any last minute problems.”

Our offices will be closed between Christmas and New Year, so registrants should try to obtain sufficient points for the year sooner rather than later in case there are any issues. In addition, CET providers need time to upload points to MyGOC before they can be accepted by registrants. CET undertaken before 31 December but not formally accepted via MyGOC before the deadline will not count towards the minimum requirement for the year.

Registrants who have any queries about CET should contact our CET team on 020 7580 3898 (option 3) or at
