GOC recruiting registrants for Council

We’re recruiting two new registrant members of our Council and the closing date for applications, 4 February, is now just a week away.

Our Council sets our strategic direction and holds the executive to account. Becoming one of our 12 Council members is your chance to influence the way we work and how the profession is regulated in the future.

GOC Interim Chair Brian Coulter said, “Becoming a GOC Council member provides a unique opportunity to shape the future of optical regulation in the UK.

"We’re looking for candidates with a range of experience in the optical sector who will help us in our public protection role. I look forward to working with the successful candidates.”

The successful candidates will replace optometrists Nick Rumney and Kevin Lewis, whose terms finish on 31 March.

The successful appointees are expected to take up their posts on 1 April. Optometrists and dispensing opticians are both eligible to apply for the vacancies.

The role is part-time with a commitment of 2-3 days a month. Most meetings are held at our offices in Central London.

You can download an information pack and apply online via the current vacancies page of our website
