February 2019

Welcome from Lesley Longstone

Welcome to the February issue of the eBulletin. I hope everyone has had a great start to the New Year.

In this issue, we fill you in on this year’s Love Your Lenses Week, which will focus on helping eye care practitioners to ‘land the message’ about aftercare advice with contact lens wearers. The week will run from 23-30 March.

Following the publication of the consultation report into our new draft Business Standards, we include an update on the findings and the current implementation timeline and plan for this year. A link to the final report can be found in this edition too.

Also in this issue, we inform you on our upcoming research into risks in the optical professions, which will give you a chance to let us know your views on risks in the profession. More information on how you can get involved is in this issue.

We also include an article about the work our legal team does regarding tackling illegal practice and the joint work we do with Trading Standards to protect the public from the illegal selling of zero powered lenses.

As the registration renewal period is currently underway, we discuss how business registration can benefit you and your business, and provide more information about how you can register your business if you haven’t done so already.

With best wishes

Lesley Longstone – Chief Executive and Registrar
