Tackling illegal practice

In our ongoing work to protect the public, we do a lot of joint work with Trading Standards Officers (TSOs) across the UK to tackle illegal practice, such as the illegal selling of zero powered lenses (ZPLs) or using a protected title without being registered appropriately.

Registration renewal


Registration renewal is now open for the year beginning 1 April 2019. If you haven’t already done so, please renew your registration with us through your MyGOC account by 15 March.

Education Strategic Review consultation – have your say


Time is running out to respond to our consultation on new draft Education Standards for providers and Learning Outcomes for students.


Feedback from the consultation will help us to ensure that optical education is future proof as technology continues to evolve and roles become more multidisciplinary.
