News in brief

Annual CET requirements

We expect registrants to get at least six CET points by 31 December 2016, so if you haven’t met your requirements for the year, time is running out. Remember you have to accept CET points for them to count. You can search for available CET by logging in to your MyGOC account and using the CET directory.

Annual report 2015-16

Our annual report, annual fitness to practise report and financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2016 are now available on our website.

New registration fee

We have set a registration fee of £330 for the coming year for optometrists, dispensing opticians and optical businesses, payable by 15 March 2017. This represents a £10 increase. The student registration fee will increase from £25 to £30. All registrants will receive an email from us before Christmas letting them know when and how to renew their GOC registration.

New GOC appointments

We have two new appointments to our senior management team. Mark Webster, who has been in place on an interim basis since July 2016, has now been appointed as Director of Resources on a permanent basis. Safia Iman has been appointed as interim Director of Fitness to Practise, covering maternity leave for Lisa Davis. You can read their full biographies on our website.
