Love Your Lenses week 2019: Thank you!

We would like to say a massive thank you to all eye care practitioners, professional bodies and optical businesses that got involved in supporting Love Your Lenses week (23-30 March).

This year, the week focused on helping practitioners to ‘land the message’ more effectively with their patients about contact lens aftercare advice. GOC research has shown that less than 50 per cent of patients recall receiving any aftercare advice, so we created three tools to assist practitioners to increase this number: a visual aid, pre-appointment questionnaire and life-style based questions.

We produced a short video, featuring Keith Tempany, contact lens optician and former President of BCLA, explaining what the ‘Land The Message’ project is, why it’s important and how the tools can be used in everyday practice.

We also produced a video animation explaining the ‘Land The Message’ report. You can watch both videos on the Love Your Lenses website.

During the week, we held an interactive webinar which discussed the importance of landing the message and the behavioural science behind the tools. It was led by Richard Edwards, an optometrist at Optomise Consulting, and Ben Capsersz, Managing Director at Claremont Comms, who provided the clinical and behavioural science perspectives respectively.

If you missed the webinar, you can download and listen to the recording here.

We encourage all practitioners to try out the tools in their practice and adapt them as you see fit. Just because Love Your Lenses week is over, doesn’t mean you can’t start ‘landing the message’!
