Education Strategic Review

The delivery of our Education Strategic Review is a key priority for 2017 and at the very heart of our Strategic Plan for the next three years. The review will ensure that education programmes and qualifications leading to GOC registration, properly equip optical professionals to meet the changing needs of patients and the challenges of a dynamic sector.

It is one of the most substantial projects that we have ever undertaken and will have a considerable impact on the eye care of everyone in the UK. We have conducted the first phase of the review – our call for evidence – and have received a considerable number of detailed and thoughtful responses from across the sector. Although the formal consultation period has now closed, we will continue to engage with our stakeholders as we develop more concrete proposals for change.

Whether you are an education provider yourself, supervisor, a current student, a qualified optometrist or dispensing optician, a patient or a business registrant interested in the education of your future workforce, we would like to urge anyone with an interest in the future of the optical professions to get involved.
