Student retention deadline

The deadline for students to apply to renew their GOC registration for 2015/16 is today. Every year, students must renew their GOC registration if they wish to continue training as an optometrist or dispensing optician.

Maintaining your GOC registration is a legal requirement. Allowing the registration to lapse could mean that:

  • you may be removed from the register;
  • you may not be able to sit next year’s exams; and
  • your final qualifications may not be recognised when you apply for full registration.

Applying to renew your registration can be done in a few minutes. Simply log in to the MyGOC section of our website, complete the online application form and pay the £25 retention fee.

Applications received after 15 July and up to 31 August will be subject to an additional £10 late application fee.

Don't worry if you choose not to continue your course in September - we will refund your payment as long as you let us know before 31 August 2015.

If you have any queries about registration, please call 020 7580 3898 (option 1), send a tweet to @GOC_UK or email registration@optical.org.
