GOC joins Vision 2020

We are pleased to announce that we have joined VISION 2020 UK as a member organisation.

VISION 2020 UK is an umbrella charity bringing together organisations from across the optical sector to transform the UK’s approach to eye health, eye care and sight loss services.

There are 50 member organisations of VISION 2020 UK, including charities, representative bodies and NHS Foundation Trusts.

The objectives of VISION 2020 UK are:

  • To prevent avoidable blindness
  • To improve the quality of services to vision impaired people
  • To improve the training available to professionals providing advice and services
  • To improve communication between organisations within the VI Sector
  • To improve the availability of information to vision impaired people
  • To ensure that the voices of the vision impaired are heard when planning services and their opinions sought on key issues affecting their lives
  • To raise public awareness of the issues and problems relating to sight loss

GOC Director of Strategy Alistair Bridge said: “Our membership of VISION 2020 UK will allow us to work collaboratively with other members, and with VISION 2020 UK itself, to engage even more effectively with patients and the public. The GOC is committed to collaborative working, and we really look forward to making the most of the opportunities presented as members of VISION 2020 UK, such as involvement in the organisation’s Special Interest Groups, and working with other members to ensure that we fulfil our core functions to an even higher standard.”
