Last chance to apply for retention before deadline

Registrants are reminded that this is their last chance to apply to renew their registration for 2014/15 without having to pay the late application fee.

The retention deadline is 15 March.

By law UK optometrists and dispensing opticians must remain registered with us in order to practise, and certain optical businesses must also register. Failure to complete retention each year will lead to removal from the register.

The retention fee for 2014/15 is £290.

Any practitioner who does not apply to renew their registration by the 15 March 2014 deadline will face a £20 late application fee. If you have still not renewed your registration by 31 March 2014, including payment of the late fee, you will be removed from the registers after 1 April 2014.

If you are removed from the register you will be unable to practise in the UK, or use a protected title such as optometrist or dispensing optician, until you have successfully applied for restoration to the register.
