At Guide Dogs, we provide support to help people with sight loss move around safely and confidently, to get out of their homes and be able to live their lives the way they choose. We are best known for achieving this through our world-famous guide dogs, but our work now encompasses so much more. In recent years, we have extended our work to help people with sight loss tackle obstacles they face on a daily basis.

Losing your sight shouldn’t mean losing your independence, confidence and freedom too. But our world is a tough place to be if you have sight loss – so much so, that thousands of people with sight loss rarely leave home alone and many more feel isolated and depressed.

We work for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.

As the UK’s leading experts on inclusivity in the sight loss sector, Guide Dogs have created Inclusivity at Work – a range of practical resources, specialist training and expert advice services to help organisations ensure they are fully accessible to customers and staff with sight loss.

To support this Guide Dogs is offering a free downloadable business toolkit to General Optical Council members which has been developed to provide guidance for organisations on how best to meet the needs of people with sight loss.
