Welcome to eBulletin

Welcome to the December issue of the eBulletin. I hope everyone is looking forward to the holiday festivities and spending time with their loved ones.

In this issue we also include an update on the findings from our Standards for Optical Businesses consultation and include a reminder about registration renewal coming up in January.

On 12 November, we launched our consultation on new draft Education Standards for providers and Learning Outcomes for students as part of the ESR. The consultation will close on 25 February 2019, and we hope to get your feedback as this will shape the future education of optical students. More information about the consultation can be found in this issue.

Also in this issue is an update on the findings from our most recent CET consultation, which closed in September, and an update on the timeline for introducing these changes. We received almost 1,000 responses to the consultation, so thank you to everyone that took the time to respond.

Our report on the findings from our Business Standards consultation is almost ready for publication, and in this edition we fill you in on what we heard from registrants, stakeholders and the public, in addition to the intended timeline for implementing the changes.

We want to remind registrants that the renewal period is coming up in January and the last date to submit your application is 15 March. Registration renewal can be completed online through MyGOC.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year, and I look forward to an exciting 2019 in the optical sector.

With best wishes

Lesley Longstone – Chief Executive and Registrar
