Annual Audit FAQs

The General Optical Council will be carrying out a yearly audit on information held on individual registrant’s records. We will contact a random sample of registrants. They will be asked to verify information and provide proof of insurance.

Q. Why are we doing this?

A. We are doing this to verify the information we hold.

If you are selected for audit

Q. What do you need to do?

A. This is a two part process:

  1. Verify all information within the email by replying and; confirm it is correct
  2. Email proof of your indemnity insurance

Q. What if my details are incorrect?

A. Reply to the email and confirm the changes required.  If you require a change of name email with proof and this will be updated. (we will need to see a copy of documentation showing your new name, such as a marriage certificate or deed poll)

Q. Can I choose to not provide copies of my insurance?

A. Registrants should supply copies of their relevant insurance as this allows them to practice. Not providing this information will not prevent you from remaining on the register but we will contact you again to request further information.

When does this need to be done by?

You are requested to verify the information within the email and provide copies of your certification within 14 days of receipt.
