Dear registrant
In December we sent you an application for retention 2008-9 form. You must return your completed retention application by 15 March, if you are to stay on the Opticians Register from 1 April.
There are now only two weeks to go until the deadline, so time is running out. Applying for retention is easy. All you need to do is complete the retention form then return it to us in the pre-addressed envelope, together with the £169 retention fee.
Even if you pay your registration fee by direct debit, you still have to send us your completed retention form. Practitioners who do not return their completed form and payment by the deadline will be removed from the register, irrespective of payment.
You are legally required to maintain your registration with the GOC. If you allow your registration to lapse:
- You may be removed from the registers
- You will not be able to practise as an optometrist or dispensing optician in the UK from 1 April
A list of all the practitioners who have not renewed is sent to Primary Care Trusts, Health Boards and optical bodies.
If you have not yet received your application form, your address details on our database may need updating. It is your responsibility to keep your registered address up to date. Please contact our registration team on 020 7580 3898 (option 1), or email superinfo@optical.org. You can download a copy of the form from our website, www.optical.org (follow the link from the homepage).
If you have already returned your form and payment in the last 10 working days please ignore this reminder.
Regards
GOC Registration team
