This section contains information on the GOC's reform agenda following the publication of the Government's White Paper 'Trust, Assurance & Safety; Regulation in the 21st Century'.

White paper What's new

  • At its meeting on 20 November 2008, the Council approved a set of initial proposals which will form the draft framework for a future revalidation scheme for optometrists and dispensing opticians.  The proposals can be accessed through our decisions taken page. 
  • The Non-Medical Revalidation National Working Group have now published their report on the key principles which the non-medical health professions regulators will use to develop proposals on the systems and processes for revalidation.  A link to NWG's webpage, where the report can be downloaded from, is available from the project structure page.
  • Our response to the DH's recent consultation on the GOC Constitution Order is now available to download from the publications section. 
  • Earlier this year CHRE consulted on the principle of harmonising sanctions across the healthcare regulators.  Their published position, along with an analysis of consultation responses, is now available from the events and consultations page.
